Totally renovated with modern tools, the peptone production facility in Beauvais is a model for peptone manufacturing. The 50-year experience of Solabia in peptone production can be exploited to maximum efficiency and has been demonstrated more recently in the continuous certification programs that integrate both Kosher and Halal, an industry first. No longer bound by production campaigns that limit the amount and frequency of materials, all plant peptones at Solabia* are certified Kosher and Halal at all times, regardless of application. In addition, 2 casein peptones of NZ origin are manufactured, both Kosher and Halal as well : an enzymatic digest that resembles Tryptone, and an Acid Hydrolysate of Casein used in both food and pharmaceutical markets.

The religious certification

Our experience benefits not only those in industrial fermentation most concerned via their markets, but this strategy and our mastery of it also benefits other clients through the discipline needed to adhere to such strict protocols and the more exclusive pool of raw materials and lack of change. Indeed, change control becomes a critical issue in religious certification, therefore changes, whatever their nature, do not take place frequently. This in turn contributes to a better stability and consistency of the peptone batch-to-batch, given the lack of modification to raw materials or process.

Halal certification on a continuous basis is a unique aspect of Solabia production’s site in Beauvais, France ; representing a real advancement in the availability of fermentation components that are compatible with the growing Halal market worldwide. Solabia is proud to have achieved this goal through a partnership with HFFIA, the Halal Food and Feed Inspection Authority, based in The Hague, Netherlands. https://halal.nl/

Through the separation of animal tissue from the plant peptones, Solabia sets itself apart from other sources, and brings an added value in the elimination of potential cross-contaminations, critical to all markets. Solabia’s production site for meat & casein peptones in BSE-free Brazil complements and augments its plant production site in France.

Tryptone (a highly sought-after casein peptone) is manufactured exclusively in Brazil, from New Zealand origin casein, with a production capacity that can satisfy the most demanding and high-volume users. And while much of the market has gone non-animal, meat peptones continue to be used in nearly all market segments yet the number of producers offering them has dwindled, in a large part due to traceability issues at single production sites. By maintaining a complete animal peptone line at dedicated plants, this issue is non-existent at Solabia.
