Action mechanism

Olecol® exerts its cholesterol-lowering effect in two ways:
1. Firstly, oleuropein (main olive polyphenol) stimulates the secretion of cholesterol in the bile, which is then evacuated in the duodenum and excreted via the faeces.
2. in parallel, olive polyphenols have been shown to decrease endogenous cholesterol production by modulating the genes involved in this process.
