DEFINITION:
Mangalidone® is the manganese salt of L-Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid (L-PCA). L-PCA, physiological component of the skin, is obtained by the cyclization of L-glutamic acid, an amino acid of vegetal origin.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Mangalidone® provides physiological intake of bioavailable manganese in order to protect the skin against oxidative stress by the reinforcement of skin’s natural anti-radical defense mechanisms with a double effect – preventive and curative:
- Mangalidone® stimulates the skin’s basal concentration of MnSOD, in the absence of aggression
- Mangalidone® can effectively combat free radicals in case of UV aggression, by boosting the skin’s defensive response
By acting at the mitochondrial level, in the fight against oxidation, Mangalidone® insures cellular longevity.
