With the acquisition of Algues & Mer, Solabia Group sets out to conquer the Iroise Sea!Sent: 13/12/2016
Gérard JOSSET, President of the Group, is building on exceptional sourcing conditions, as he did for their Brazilian units, to expand their range of cosmetic ingredients.
With its expertise in biotechnology (fermentation and enzyme biocatalysis), fine chemicals and plant extraction technologies, the Solabia Group has decided to complete its offer by capitalizing on the wealth and diversity of algae through the acquisition of Algues & Mer, a company created in 1994 with its head office in Ouessant (Brittany, France).
Indeed, the island of Ouessant is classified as a biosphere reserve of the Iroise Sea by UNESCO and contains a variety of both wild and cultivated algae, far removed from pesticides, heavy metals and pollution.
Since its creation, Algues & Mer was especially notable in the development of different active molecules and, in particular, fucoidans, sulfated polysaccharides with multiple properties for cosmetic, nutritional and pharmaceutical use (ongoing collaboration with INSERM).
With this new acquisition, the Solabia Group intends to develop new sources of inspiration and, of course, innovations by applying all its expertise to the algae world, which is currently rapidly expanding, and thus strengthen its position as a major world player in cosmetic ingredients.
